Welcome to my site for the award winning actress, Maureen Beattie. This much respected actress is a familiar face to both TV and Theatre audiences, and her voice is also heard regularly on Radio. She has notched up over 50 TV appearances, but is probably best known for her role, as nurse Sandra Nichol, in the BBC's hit medical drama series, 'Casualty'.
Since her professional debut, nearly forty years ago, Maureen has tackled a real diversity of roles, across a variety of genres, (including restoration comedy, tragedy, panto, revue, and Shakespeare) and has receieved much praise from critics and audiences alike. She is just as at home being on stage doing a one woman show, as she is being part of a large ensemble.
She is particularly busy at present: rehearsing for her role as Narrator for RSNO's performance of 'The Snowman' (at various major Scottish cities in the week before Christmas). Following this festive treat, she is due to star in the world premiere of a new play entitled 'No Quarter' at London's Royal Court Theatre, and in April, she is organising and hosting a special evening of entertainment at Glasgow's Citizen's Theatre, in aid of their restoration fund.
Her theatre work has taken her a number of countries - USA, Canada, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Poland, to name but a few.
She has also performed in venues the width and breadth of the UK, including Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cardiff, Nottingham, Sheffield, Southampton, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Newcastle and London.
Having appeared in more than 100 stage productions, Maureen has worked with some of the UK's most respected theatre directors/producers, including Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Stephen MacDonald, Peter Gill, Sam Mendes and Michael Boyd.
I hope you will enjoy looking round the site and find it interesting!
